Mahtab attended the J.B.

Petit High School for Girls in Mumbai where she fell in love with books. Most of her recesses were spent reading in nooks and corners of the school building with interesting friends like Lucy Pevensie, Charlie Bucket, and Pippi Longstocking.

After graduating with a degree in Commerce from the University of Bombay, Mahtab decided to pursue Hotel Management. She spent two years training at the Oberoi School of Hotel Management in Delhi before transferring to Mumbai to work at Oberoi Towers.
